When to go to CHL
Often patients that go to CHL are brought by ambulance due to a crisis or emergency. To get accepted in the psychiatry you need to go through emergency. A psychiatrist will see you and judge if a stay at the hospital is necessary. You'll then be transfered to the closed or to the open unit depending on the severity of your mental state. If you have to go to the closed facility you'll be there for approximately one month and then transferred to the open unit if stable. If the case is too severe you can be transferred to CHNP in Ettelbrück which happens most of the time for cases that are dramatic and severe. Most of the time people have to go to the open unit for another month and if stable can then go home or to day care. This all depends of course on your mental illness, the severity and other factors. During the stay at the hospital different activities are being held with the patients to learn to live a social and happy life again after extiing hospital. Most of the therapies are mandatory. Special nurses and doctors keep track of your mental state and track your health on the way.
